TYPE OF FUND: Pass Through Scholarship

DATE ESTABLISHED: December 2024

PURPOSE: To provide a scholarship to a deserving female athlete at Tucker County High School who is continuing her education in college or trade school.

DISTRIBUTION: On the recommendation of the Scholarship Committee and final approval by the Board of Directors of TCF.  The fund advisor requests to be notified of the selected candidate each year, and if the funding is sufficient to maintain a scholarship of at least $1,000 per year.

VARIANCE POWER: If, in the judgment of the TCF Board of Directors, the restrictions and conditions of the fund become unnecessary, incapable of fulfillment, or inconsistent with the charitable needs of the community, the TCF Board of Directors maintains the right to modify the terms of this fund. 

BACKGROUND: Louanna Bava Carr, affectionately known as "Lulu," was born and raised in Tucker County. She attended Tucker County High School and graduated with the first graduating class in 1979. During high school, Lulu played basketball and ran track, continuing her basketball career for two years at Potomac State College and Fairmont State University.

On December 6, 1988, Louanna married Patrick Carr, and they celebrated 35 wonderful years together. Lulu was an avid sports fan and a devoted supporter of Tucker County sports. Known as the life of the party, she always wore a smile and loved making people laugh. Her kindness and generosity made her a friend to everyone she met.

This scholarship is established to honor Lulu’s life and memory, helping students like her pursue higher education at a college or trade school.
