DONATE

When a community needs something, the people here don’t wait for help. They become the help. They show up, pitch in, and create something stronger than what came before. That spirit of action is at the heart of the Tucker Community Foundation.

A gift to the Foundation provides a scholarship that helps a student take their next step. It keeps a rural health clinic open. It supports a food pantry, a volunteer fire department, and a library that welcomes everyone. It gives local organizations the resources they need to grow and serve more people.

This approach ensures that a donor’s impact continues to expand and provide reliable resources year after year. Create a legacy that strengthen our region for generations to come.

  • Unrestricted Fund

A gift to establish an unrestricted fund provides the broadest giving option. The Foundation will decide how to use the gift based on their understanding of the most pressing needs, whether for grants or scholarships.

    $1,000 to initiate | $5,000 to establish

    Field of Interest Fund

This type of fund enables you to address specific needs within a particular sector, such as health, youth services, programs for senior citizens, education, environmental initiatives, arts and cultural programs, animal welfare, or historic preservation. Additionally, you can designate the geographic area that your fund will serve.

    $2,000 to initiate | $10,000 to establish

    Donor-Advised Fund

A donor-advised fund enables continuous participation in allocating your contributions from the fund. You provide specific grant recommendations to the Foundation for their review and consideration.

    $4,000 to establish | $20,000 to establish

    Designated Fund

You may designate a specific organization to benefit from your contribution. If the designated organization ceases to exist, the Foundation has the authority and responsibility to reallocate the grants to another agency that most closely aligns with your original intent.

    $2,000 to initiate | $10,000 to establish

    Agency Endowed Fund

Non-profit organizations frequently aim to establish long-term endowments to support their mission and objectives. The Foundation offers an exceptional mechanism to ensure these endowments are meticulously invested and managed.

    $2,000 to initiate | $10,000 to establish

    Scholarship Fund

A fund can be established to assist students in pursuing their education. The Foundation Scholarship Committee collaborates with local school officials and community volunteers to interview students and provide award recommendations.

    $4,000 to initiate | $20,000 to establish

    Cemetery Preservation Fund

These funds are designated for the maintenance, historical preservation, and enhancement of cemeteries managed by a board of trustees.

Initiated funds have five years to meet the minimum fund requirement, after which grant or scholarship awards can be distributed.

The Foundation has developed a comprehensive plan to assist individuals and organizations in establishing funds. Please contact the Foundation office to schedule a meeting with our staff at a mutually convenient time and location. We will assist in completing a fund agreement that will provide a lasting financial resource for future generations.

Community foundations are collections of individual funds and resources given by local citizens to enhance and support the quality of life in their community. The income from these separate funds can help a community respond to emerging problems and opportunities, as well as prepare for its future.

PLANNED GIVING

Planned giving offers a way to make a lasting difference while aligning your philanthropy with your financial goals. By incorporating charitable giving into your estate or financial planning, you can create a meaningful legacy that supports the people and places you care about.

  • Cash

The simplest way to make a gift to the Foundation, either to an existing fund, or to create a new fund is with cash. Cash gifts may be fully deducted for federal income tax purposes, up to 50% of adjusted gross income. Checks should be made out to TCF.

    Appreciated Securities

Gifts of appreciated securities (stocks and bonds) offer a double tax advantage to you. First, you avoid the capital gains tax that would have been imposed if you sold the securities yourself, and secondly, you can take an income tax deduction. Most donors can deduct the full fair-market value of appreciated stocks and bonds up to 30% of their adjusted gross income, with a five-year carry over period.

    Life Insurance

Life insurance provides several options for giving. You may donate an existing, paid-up policy, and in turn, you will get an immediate tax deduction for the gift, usually equal to the policy’s cash surrender value. Another option is to take out a new insurance policy naming the Foundation as owner and beneficiary. Your annual payments to the Foundation to pay the premiums may be fully deductible as a charitable contribution.

    Bequests

You may designate the Foundation as a beneficiary of your estate to receive a certain dollar amount or to be the residuary or contingent beneficiary. You may want to establish a fund through your will. Consult with your attorney and the TCF office for proper wording of the bequest.

    Other Assets

Gifts of other appreciated assets (real estate, jewelry, coins, etc.) may be accepted subject to review. Contact the Foundation office for more information. Real estate, mineral and/or gas rights may be accepted and are also subject to review.

    Charitable Remainder Trusts

This option is for individuals who need to maximize their income but would still like to make a charitable gift with their assets. When you establish a charitable remainder trust, you receive an income tax deduction. The trust helps to avoid or lessen estate taxes as it removes the assets placed in trust from your estate. Charitable remainder trusts can be created with appreciated assets such as stock. Talk with your attorney and/or financial advisor or call the Foundation office for more information.

    Transfer of a Private Foundation

Managing a private foundation can be costly and time consuming. Reporting requirements can be burdensome. Community foundations manage pooled assets, so the cost of administering the pooled funds is less than that incurred by a private foundation. Less costs to administer the fund translates into more funds available for growth and income. The original identity and purpose of the private foundation can be retained after transferring funds to TCF. Family members or corporate sponsors of a private foundation can continue to serve as fund advisors. Call the Foundation office for more information.

    Gifts from Retirement Accounts

If you have accumulated significant assets in a retirement account, you may want to consider designating the Foundation as a beneficiary of the account. Your estate will receive a deduction for estate taxes and the Foundation will not incur taxable income.

Community foundations are on the front lines in the battle to improve the living standards of our cities and towns by tackling issues ranging from homelessness to improving the quality of education available to our youth through innovative and effective programs.
