BACKGROUND: The original Tacy Cross Roads Church was built in 1873.  The cemetery located immediately behind the church was added shortly after church construction.  The first grave date noted was 1876.  Over the years, as the cemetery expanded, two additions were made – one located behind the original cemetery and another across the road from the church.  Before 1973, community volunteers occasionally mowed the cemetery, sometimes haphazardly.  In 1973, due to the cemetery's growth, church members established a fund to care for the cemetery, which the Church Trustees administered.  Contributions to the cemetery fund were kept separate from church funds.  In 1990, Church Trustees and others interested in preserving and maintaining the cemetery decided that it was in the best interest of the church and cemetery to establish a trust, with the cemetery funds to be administered by the trust through a Board of Trustees.  In 2017, during a public meeting, the Tacy Cross Roads Cemetery Trust Board of Trustees voted to join with the Tucker Community Foundation to begin the process of establishing perpetual care for the preservation and maintenance of the Tacy Cross Roads Cemetery.
