Day of Giving: TCF Announces 2026 Grant Recipients

2026 Grant Recipients

What better way to celebrate the annual TCF Day of Giving than by announcing the 54 grant recipients in our communities? $200,700 will be put to work across the Potomac Highlands, supporting organizations and projects that address local needs, create new opportunities, and strengthen our communities. Each award carries forward a charitable intention, connecting the vision of someone who chose to give with the people and organizations working to make that vision a reality. Today, we're proud to share the organizations receiving these awards and celebrate the many ways their work will benefit our region.

Understanding How the Grant Cycle Works

The grants awarded through Tucker Community Foundation don't come from one large pool of money that TCF’s Grants Committee distributes at its own discretion. Instead, grant funding comes from individual charitable funds established by donors over the years.

Each fund begins with someone's vision for how they want to give back. Some donors establish funds to support a particular community or county. Others want to address a specific need, such as education, animal welfare, food insecurity, or community development. Some funds are established in memory of a loved one, creating a way for that person's legacy to continue making a difference.

When establishing a charitable fund, donors work with TCF to determine its purpose and any applicable restrictions. These guidelines become part of the fund's identity and help ensure that the donor's original intentions are honored. As the TCF Grants Committee evaluates each application, it considers both the merits of the proposal and whether the project meets the requirements of the applicable charitable funds.

Contribute to Your Cause

One of the things that makes community foundations special is that charitable giving doesn't have to look the same for everyone. You can personalize your gift to the location and cause that is close to your heart.

You don't have to establish a charitable fund to make a difference. Contributions to existing funds help grow their resources and strengthen their ability to support local organizations and initiatives. For those who see a need in our community that isn't currently being addressed through our grant cycle, the Foundation can help explore options for establishing a fund that reflects their philanthropic vision.

On the anniversary of the 1985 flood and TCF’s founding, we recognize the needs of our communities continue to evolve. But the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors remains the same. Every contribution, every charitable fund, and every grant award is part of that ongoing story.
