Valentine Family Fund

This fund ensures the legacy of Gene Valentine by providing perpetual support for the Parsons Presbyterian Church, where she was a lifelong member.

DATE ESTABLISHED: 2003

PURPOSE: To provide perpetual funding for the Parsons Presbyterian Church.

DISTRIBUTION: Upon the recommendation of the Grants Committee, approval of the Board of Directors of TCF, and in cooperation with the Session of the Church.

VARIANCE POWER: If, in the judgment of the TCF Board of Directors, the restrictions and conditions of the fund become unnecessary, incapable of fulfillment or inconsistent with the charitable needs of the community, the TCF Board of Directors maintains the right to modify the terms of this fund.

FUNDING: From the estate of Ms. Valentine, approved by the Board of Directors Dec. 10, 2003.

BACKGROUND: Gene Valentine was born November 8, 1925, in Cumberland, MD, the only child of the late Arthur Jay Valentine and Eugenia “Gene” Orr Valentine of Parsons, WV. She graduated from Parsons High School in 1943 and from Davis & Elkins College in 1947. She worked as a laboratory technician in Laboratory, PA, St. Petersburg, FL, for the U.S. Army, and at Pittsburgh’s West Penn Hospital. A lifelong member of Parsons Presbyterian Church, Ms. Valentine passed away at age 77 on December 29, 2002, at Colonial Place in Elkins, WV. Her death was attributed to respiratory failure, and she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
