BACKGROUND: The Tucker County Giving Circle began as a simple idea shared by two women over coffee during a community breakfast. This idea blossomed into a brainstorming session with a few interested friends. With the support of the Tucker Community Foundation, the Tucker County Giving Circle was officially formed and held its first meeting in early 2020. The ten founding members each pledged $300 annually to support the mission of aiding the women and children of Tucker County. Initially, the plan was to award grants to local nonprofit organizations aligned with the Giving Circle's mission; however, this goal was sidetracked by the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, the Tucker County Giving Circle distributed the collected funds, totaling $4,672.51, to four organizations that support women and children in Tucker County. Grants would have to wait until later.
Since its inception, the Tucker County Giving Circle has experienced annual membership growth of over 10%, with total member contributions reaching $53,086.28 as of 2024. All donations are directed back into the community in the form of grants, with 10% set aside annually for the endowment fund and a small management fee paid to the Tucker Community Foundation. Notably, 2024 was a significant year, as the organization’s endowment fund surpassed the $10,000 mark, enabling it to become a fully funded endowed account.
All grants are approved through a vote by the Tucker County Giving Circle membership. Funds have been awarded to a diverse range of organizations within Tucker County that support women and children in various settings, including local schools, camps, food banks, and the local library.
The mission of the Tucker County Giving Circle is to support the women and children of Tucker County. We achieve this through our grant process, and donations to our endowment fund will enable us to expand and meet our specific goals:
To enhance the life skills of women and children within the Tucker County community.
To promote the sustainability of the Tucker County community by supporting efforts that create opportunities for women and children, thereby encouraging community growth.
All donations to the Tucker County Giving Circle Fund will directly support these goals.
