BACKGROUND: The Easton Fund was initiated in the fall of 2009 to enhance opportunities for the creative arts in Tucker County schools. It was established in memory of Dutch Easton, an innovator in pen and pencil, sculpture, and graphic arts—and a character who truly defied categorization. Born February 18, 1980, in Alexandria, VA, Dutch resided in Canaan Valley for several years before his passing in March 2004. He leaves behind a daughter who lived in Elkins at the time the fund was initiated.
